 Depression is a mental health condition where the person has a shallow interest in everything, and their mood has been down all the time. The person can also feel sadness and bursts of anger all the time with a feeling of loss. These sudden mood changes interfere with their personal lives and can mess with that. There are different types of depression that one can associate with.


Causes of Depression: 

There can be many reasons for Depression 


1. Inherited: Yes, Depression can be genetic. Scientists’ research says that up to 40% of Depression can be inherited from the family if any family member had any history of Depression. The rest 60% is caused by other causes.

Types of Depression: 


There are nine types of depression that one person can suffer from:


1. Major Depression: 

This type of Depression is when you feel most of the time 


Signs: 

2. Feeling guilty without any reason 

3. Feeling tired without even doing anything 4. Lack of energy 

5. Lack of interest in everything 

6. Suicidal thoughts

7. Weight loss or weight gain 

8. Having Insomnia 


2.Persistent Depressive Disorder: 

A persistent depressive disorder is when you have Depression for more than two years. 


Signs 

1. Either sleeping way too much or too less 

2. Feeling hopeless 

3. low self-esteem 

4. Having trouble in making decisions. 


3.Bipolar Disorder: 

When your mood changes quickly without doing much with a huge difference in your previous mood or behavior, you might have Bipolar Disorder or Manic Depression 


4.Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): 

This type of Depression is when you have Depression only in the wintertime but not anytime else. This type of Depression usually ends after winter passes.


5.Psychotic Depression: 

Psychotic Depression is when you have psychotic behavior along with Major Depression. 

Signs: 


1. You start to have Hallucinations 

2. You become delusional 

3. You develop paranoia means you always believe that someone is trying to harm you 


6.Peripartum (Postpartum) Depression: 

After months or weeks of childbirth, women who have major Depression may develop this type of Depression. 


7. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD): 

This type of Depression happens with woman mainly at the start of their periods 


8.Situational Depression: 

This type of Depression is when you feel stressed out because of a particular situation in life, be it results or lose a job.


9.Atypical Depression: 

This type of Depression goes away temporarily with some positive events.


Feeling down or sad is a part of life itself, but if you are feeling down and hopeless regularly, there’s a possibility that you might be going through different types of depression, and you should consult a specialist.
